At Franks Forestry we believe high quality trainin

At Franks Forestry we believe high quality training leads to good quality professional tree work. For that reason we employ an external health and safety and training consultant to help us ensure all our operators have the latest industry recognised training. Our consultant is a Lantra, IOSH and BALI approved instructor and the lead assessor for the Arboricultural Association. Our preferred route to operator competency usually consists of Lantra registered training followed by either Lantra or City and Guilds Ofqual registered certification. All staff have completed internal training via our external consultant and some staff are currently attending apprenticeship training via Pershore Collage. All staff have completed BALI ROLO training and hold LISS.

A fatal fungal disease of ash trees

First confirmed in the UK in 2012, ash dieback, also known as 'Chalara' or Chalara ash dieback, is a disease of ash trees caused by a fungus called Hymenoscyphus fraxineus.

The main symptoms of Ash Dieback are:
* Blackening of leaves which often hang on the tree
* Discoloured stems, often with a diamond-shape lesion
* Black and shrivelled shoots
* The death of twigs and branches in the crown of mature trees
* Small white fruiting fungal bodies on blackened stalks in early autumn
